RALEIGH, N.C. (June 17, 2008) —
The public is invited to Wake Tech’s third annual Digital Game Expo. The two-day event takes place June 20 & 21 at Wake Tech’s Main Campus, south of Raleigh. Highlights include a Digital Game Career Fair on Friday, where representatives will be scouting for those with the sharpest skills to fill high-demand positions in the Triangle’s 40+ digital game companies. On Saturday, game players of all ages can check out the hottest games and show off their gaming skills.

Conference Highlights:
Both days include presentations by internationally-known industry experts. Speakers include more women than ever before, including one of the best-known game designers Brenda Brathwaite, who has worked on such internationally known titles as Def Jam: Icon, Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes, and the award-winning Wizardry series. Another speaker, Nic Allen, is a Wake Tech alumnus. Saturday features a panel discussion on MMO’s (Massively Multiplayer Online) games.
Why: The Triangle is home to more than 40 digital game companies - the highest concentration of such companies anywhere in the Southeast. This technology-driven industry employs designers, artists, animators, and technicians at competitive salaries. Wake Tech offers specialized training for these positions in its two-year Simulation and Game Development program. More than 200 students are currently enrolled in the program, which began in 2006.
Training takes place in Wake Tech’s state-of-the-art digital game computer lab, the most advanced facility in the area.
